Kroger’s Dutch Hot Cocoa

I recently purchase Kroger’s Dutch Hot Cocoa mix (Fat Free). I know, I was already asking for trouble, but hey I’m trying to diet. It’s only 25 calories per serving and now I know why. It was the worst tasting mix I’ve ever used.
It had a strong salt taste and very little chocolate. I couldn’t even finish the cup I made.
I would not ever buy this product again.

Homemade hot cocoa

Photo by kevinmarsh Tonight is the first genuinely cold night of the season. I’ve spent the evening bundled up in multiple layers under a big comforter on the couch. And you know what goes best with a cold night? Hot cocoa. When I told Tony I was craving it, he offered to run up to Starbucks with the gift card we’ve had since the wedding. I didn’t want to go out in the cold, though, and I knew he didn’t either. No, I said. We’ll make it at home. A quick look in the refrigerator, and I reali

Light Up Night - Open Until 9pm

Thursday night, November 20, is Mt. Lebanon's Light Up Night. We'll stay open late for the festivities - until 9pm. There will be caroling and music on the street, the tree lighting in Clearview Commons, and an appearance by Santa sometime around 8pm. Our store tree is up. There are plenty of marshmallows for hot cocoa. Ginger, peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies plus biscotti from Annamarie's. And of course lots and lots of great coffee. Enjoy the evening.

Holiday Blitz Day 2: Hot Cocoa & Gift Card Holder Tutorial & the winner!

Welcome to our Holiday Blitz Event Day 2. For today’s project I (Andrea) thought I’d share with you this cute Hot Chocolate & Gift Card Holder which I created for my teacher gifts this year. Every year I buy all of my kid’s teachers a gift card from Chapters (a big bookstore similar to Barnes & Noble in the US). This year I thought it would be nice to bundle it with a package of hot cocoa. After all, what could be better than curling up by the fire with a good book and a cup of coc

Cozy Fireplace & Hot Chocolate Evening

Our first fire since last winter makes me think of a romantic short story that I wrote called Fire Dance. Time to heat some milk for hot cocoa and find a soft blanket. Josie in front of our fireplace

Thanksgiving Parade in Silver Spring This Weekend

Here are the deets on the Thanksgiving Parade in downtown Silver Spring on Saturday. Last year my kids and I bundled up, brought thermoses of hot cocoa and had a wonderful time. It was non-stop fun, good music, great floats, lots of thrown candy and favors. My son caught a toy baseball from The Nationals and my daughter blew kisses to the beauty queens. The biggest celebrity of the day was a tie between seeing their friend Caroline marching with her Brownie troop and Santa Claus at the parade's

I love having traditions in our family.  Traditions that build character and provide us all with a feeling of togetherness by sharing something special that we have made important in our family.  Little things that you do on a regular basis can thrill your children into believing that they are special or sharing in something that is special.  In our family, we share in a big cup of hot, delicious cocoa - the real stuff - on a regular basis. Our children ask for hot cocoa nearly every night
