Great Day Breakfast Kolaches

I consider myself a kolache connoisseur. Spoiled from my many years stopping at a meat market in Hillje, Texas called Praseks Smokehouse. On my way to Houston I would stop and get jalapeno cheese and sausage kolaches. I have since left the great state of Texas and miss that wonderful treat from the market.
Recently on a trip to Wal-Mart I saw a box labeled kolaches in the frozen food section. I had to try them. They are “Great Day Breakfast” Cheddar Jalapeno Kolaches. I paid around $2.50 for a box of 4 (8oz). I was sorely disappointed, but my husband [...]

Breakfast Places

What a lazy day! What a joy! After my travel schedule the past few weeks, I think I was due a day just to be lazy. I got nothing done! Absolutely zero productivity! I came home this afternoon and slept for over two hours. Wow! Not a bit of guilt. Breakfast Club Member Dale at Happy Gillis This morning Cheryl and I met with our breakfast club. This is a small group that came into existence a few years ago as several of us waited for our friend Rick to come out of surgery. We had a great time s

Dominica!!!

We were up quite literally with the sun. We needed to shower, dress and go upstairs for breakfast, then be down on the pier by 7:15 AM. No worries, really, the sun rose and woke me and then the wake up call came and we got into action. Breakfast was the usual, and then we grabbed our things from the room and got down on the pier nice and early. We were on the Dominica’s Favorites tour with Mr. Gary (driver) and Cori (our guide). First we all were a tad wet because it was raining like crazy wh

Very tired…

NaBloPoMo 2008 - Day 22 It’s 03:30 am, and LP has not seen fit to let us sleep yet. Wonderful! Watching random nonsense on YouTube, catching up on my Google Reader. Reading my blog stats, there are a whole lot of people searching for “felt food” on the interwebs, everyone must have their crafty hats on in preparation for Christmas. Very tired. Thank you Mr. HPP for making breakfast for me already

Young: 100 F-22s Need $8 Billion For Upgrades

Photo from Wikimedia From Defense News: Pentagon acquisition executive John Young says the U.S. Air Force will spend $8 billion to upgrade 100 F-22 fighters, which he said would be "lesser models" without the modifications. The money, which will be used to create and install better software and make other unspecified modifications, is included in the 2010 defense spending blueprint that will be handed to the incoming Obama administration, Young told reporters during a Nov. 20 breakfast in Was

mmmm… muffins…

mmmm… muffins… Posted on Nov 21st, 08 at 10:04 pm under Recipes 21 Nov This morning I woke up knowing that I had to use my new mixer… So I decided to make some banana-oat chocolate chip muffins for breakfast… Isn’t it a beauty? The batter turned out perfectly of course… 3/4 cups flour 3/4 cup oats 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 large ripe bananas, mashed 1/2 cup apple sauce 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 egg, lightly beaten 1/3 cup

Bloated And Worried

Bloated And Worried Just like any binging day, I am very full and bloated from too much food intake. It feels like, I am on the verge of gluttony. It never fails. I want to lose weight, but I can not. I do not eat breakfast or lunch at times, but when I eat, I mean business. Definitely, my diet is getting worse each day. In addition, I do not have no exercise at all. I gain a lot of pounds from eating junk and microwavable foods. When will I learn to discipline myself? I need to get in touch

Marston’s - Pasadena

It’s officially been a while since I’ve had a brilliant brunch experience. Heck, I haven’t had a swoon-worthy breakfast-lunch hybrid since my days in Philly, and that was years ago! If you’re lucky enough to be living in the area, I highly recommend Bridget Foy’s on South Street, Sabrina’s Cafe near the Italian Market, and Lacroix at the Rittenhouse. In addition to brunch, water ice and cheese steaks are other Philly notables. My latest brunch disappointment was at Marston’s in Pasadena. The

Friday in Heather’s Kitchen

This morning, the kids decided that they wanted a BIG breakfast. They seem to go through stages where they eat almost nothing, and just when my husband and I start to wonder how they stay alive, they suddenly start eating like pigs! This morning they requested pancakes and sausage…and here’s where I cheat. Though I try to cook from scratch as much as possible, I do make exceptions at breakfast time. I’m just not a morning person at all, and some mornings it takes enormous effort to even pour ce

More on the English Breakfast (a la O’Connor, that is)

Was the English breakfast invented in the mid nineteenth century?  That’s the worry Adam Balic, who is as profoundly informed about the history of British food as anyone I know, expresses about my report of Kaori O’Connor’s English Breakfast. And he adds some wonderful quotations as evidence. Mea culpa.  I said that the heyday of the [...]
